Old-time village blacksmiths forged blades and wide range of items. A village smith puukko has a partial tang, which in the past was just hammered in a tight hole. Today, epoxy glue is used. Blacksmiths made simple handles, but they did not make leatherworks, and for that reason, the puukkos were sold without a sheath.
